I first liked that idea in that you could, as the article says, kill two birds with one stone by having the rain jacket double as a tent. But on second thought it seems to me that if’n you’re out in the woods during a time that a poncho is needed to be carried then you’d want something a little more sturdy and enclosed than a poncho for a sleeping shelter.
